New England Chapter No. 8 NAWCCSUMMER MEETING, SATURDAY, JUNE 20 2009Auburn Elks Lodge, Auburn, MA
|
As spring gives way to summer, and financial despondency gives way finally to prosperity (we hope), Chapter 8 too will try to make a change for the better, if only in a small way. Over the past few years we have been struggling to find ways to keep meetings and membership expenses affordable. In keeping with that goal, we have decided to institute a new, and of course entirely voluntary, program whereby members with internet access will be able to receive meeting and dues notices via email, rather than through the US Mail. This will save the Chapter a significant amount of money, even if only a small percentage of members take advantage of it. I anticipate that, as time goes by, we will end up with a majority of our members being notified this way. Your hard working Secretary, Les Tyrala, has volunteered to coordinate this effort. Again, I must stress that this is entirely voluntary, so if you wish to continue receiving your notices through the mail, you need take no action. However, if this is something you would like to try, please sign up simply by filling out the small colored form that is included with this mailing. In future mailings, there will be a line on the meeting registration form for your email address, so that you may switch at any time. Note that you can switch back to mailed notices at any time if email notices prove unsatisfactory for you. Also, there will be a sign-up sheet at the Chapter table at meetings. Looking forward to seeing some of you at the National in Grand Rapids! -- Peter Nunes |

He left his position in 1988, but returned in 1996, again serving as curator and librarian. He is the author of 200 Years of American Clocks and Watches (1975) as well as other publications. Besides many articles, Chris compiled most of the clock firm histories published in the museum's reproduction trade catalogs and in Tran Duy Ly's clock identification and price guides.
